Vitality Week at UoC

The University of Cumbria’s Student Union ran an initiative called ‘Vitality Week’ which aimed to raise awareness of a healthy lifestyle. that took place in the week of 3rd-7th October 2011.

Rob George says Vitality Week was a success

The week which took place in the week of 3rd-7th October 2011, featured many different events, ranging from the female sack race to Zumba classes. These events ran to help promote a healthy lifestyle that the UCSU are trying to get students to adopt.

The week was organised mainly by UCSU Sports Officer Robert George and he described how long it took to put the week together: “Planning started in early June, but the idea came about last year in November.”

The week was deemed a success, George told The Informer: “The attendance at the free classes have been good and hopefully this will continue.”

One of the main aims of the UCSU this year is to increase student participation and running events like this will not only raise the awareness of a healthy lifestyle, but also the Student Union itself. George said: “There is not an exact number but its in the hundreds” regarding student participation at ‘Vitality Week’.
